Chinese tech giant, OPPO has announced a new A16e model in India as its latest budget smartphone. It is officially listed on the company's website but details regarding its official pricing and availability are yet to be revealed. Talking about the highlights of the OPPO A16e, it offers an HD+ display with a waterdrop notch design, entry-level hardware, VoLTE support, a single rear camera, and a 4,230mAh battery.
OPPO had recently unveiled the A76 and A96 smartphones and now, it has launched the A16e to attract Indian customers looking for a budget smartphone with a sleek design, face unlock function, a long battery life, and decent performance. It is expected to take on budget offerings from rival brands such as Xiaomi, Samsung, Motorola and Realme.
The OPPO A16e sports a 6.52-inch LCD display with an HD+ resolution of 720x1600 pixels, a refresh rate of 60Hz, and Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The device has a waterdrop notch design with a plastic body and prominent bezels. On the back, there is a squircle camera module along with an LED flash. The smartphone is 7.85mm thick and weights around 175 grams.
Under the hood, the OPPO A16e is fueled by a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset, paired with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 1TB via a micro-SD card. At the heart, it runs on Android 11-based ColorOS 11.1 out of the box. Though the smartphone lacks a fingerprint scanner, it carries support for face unlock.
In terms of optics, The OPPO A16e has a 13MP primary camera module with features such as Smart Backlit HDR and Night Filters, which allow users to capture clear and bright images even in low light. For selfies and video calls, the device packs a 5MP front-facing camera. The smartphone packs a 4,230mAh battery, which supports charging through a micro-USB port.
Chinese tech company OPPO is yet to announce the official pricing and availability details of the A16e smartphone. However, we expect it to start at under Rs. 10,000 (approximately $131.13 United States Dollar). The handset comes in Blue, Midnight Black, and White color options.
