Alongside the Xiaomi 12S series, the Chinese tech giant also unveiled the Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity Edition, the company’s fourth smartphone under the Xiaomi 12 lineup. The latest Xiaomi 12 series smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ processor. Apart from the processor, Xiaomi has made several changes in terms of the specifications, when compared to the Xiaomi 12 Pro.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity Edition comes with a bigger 5,160mAh battery, but this time the brand has capped the charging speed to 67W. The Dimensity Edition of the Xiaomi 12 Pro features a 6.73-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display with 2K (3200 × 1440 pixels) resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 240Hz touch sampling rate. The display panel supports 1,500nits peak brightness and an 8,000,000: 1 contrast ratio. The smartphone comes with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision certifications. The display panel houses an optical fingerprint scanner underneath which can also measure heart rate.
Under the hood, the latest Xiaomi 12 series device sports an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ processor that is manufactured on TSMC’s 4nm fabrication process. The system on chip brings with it a ten-core Mali G710 GPU, up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 256GB UFS3.1 storage. The smartphone comes pre-loaded with MIUI 13, based on Android 12. It measures 163.6 × 74.6 × 8.1mm and weighs 201 grams.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity Edition offers a triple-rear camera setup including a 50MP Sony IMX707 primary sensor with OIS support. Accompanying it is a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens with 123° field of view, 15mm focal length, and an F2.4 aperture. There is also a 5MP tele macro camera with 50mm focal length and an F2.4 aperture on the back. The smartphone relies on a 32MP snapper for video calls and selfies.
The latest Xiaomi 12 series smartphone comes equipped with a 5,160mAh battery unit. It features a Surge P1 charging chip and supports 67W fast charging over a Type-C charging port. It offers a Harman Kardon tuned stereo speaker setup with Hi-res audio and Dolby Atmos. In terms of connectivity, it features dual-SIM, 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS, Galileo, Glonass, and NavIC.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity Edition comes in two configurations—8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB. The Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity Edition is available for pre-booking in China and will go on sale starting July 12, 2022. It comes in black and blue colour options. The company is yet to reveal the global availability of the device. Rumours suggest that the device will not be launched in global markets and instead will remain a Chinese market exclusive.
