Jennifer Lopez's latest film, Atlas, managed to become the most popular film on the Netflix platform globally, even though it only scored 17% on the review site Rotten Tomatoes. This science fiction action genre film was directed by Brad Peyton, who previously worked on Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, San Andreas, and Rampage.

Meanwhile the script was written by Leo Sardarian and Aron Eli Coleite. Atlas tells the story of a data analyst who collaborates with artificial intelligence ( AI ) to face rebel robots who want to destroy humanity. Apart from the main role played by Jennifer Lopez, this film also stars Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Lana Parrilla, and Mark Strong.

Quoting from the official Netflix website on Wednesday May 29, 2024, Atlas took first place on Netflix's Top 10 Global list with 56.3 million hours watched and a total of 28.2 million views on May 20-26. This film is far superior to the animated Thelma the Unicorn which was in second place with 10.7 million impressions in its second week on the Top 10 list.

Besides Atlas and Thelma the Unicorn , other films in the Top 10 include Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Mother of the Bride, Disturbia, Sing 2, Ice Age: Collision Course, A Simple Favor, Madame Web, and Security. Atlas is Jennifer Lopez's latest film which has been gaining popularity on Netflix but received lukewarm reviews.

Before Atlas , the On the Floor singer had collaborated with Netflix on the film The Mother which was released in May 2023. Not a few acknowledged Jennifer Lopez's extraordinary efforts in playing her role as Atlas Shepherd, but this film was criticized because the script was considered bad and shallow.

These criticisms resulted in Atlas scoring just 17% from 70 reviews, one of the worst scores of Jennifer Lopez's career on a par with The Boy Next Door (11%) and Gigli (6%). Nevertheless, Jennifer Lopez tries to give her best in her films and remains a sought-after star in the world of cinema.
