The first trailer for the action comedy film The Killer's Game starring Dave Bautista has been released by Lionsgate. This film is adapted from the novel by Jay Bonansinga and will be released on September 13, 2024.
Adapting from Screen Rant on Thursday June 6, 2024, Dave Bautista plays Joe Flood in this film. He is a hitman who was told by doctors that he had three months left to live because he was diagnosed with a terminal illness.
Not wanting his girlfriend to know about his condition, Joe asked his former colleagues to take his life. However, when Joe finds out that his diagnosis was wrong, he must fight his former colleagues who are now trying to kill him. Dave Bautista finally gets the lead role in an action film.
Dave usually only gets small roles, but finally he has a big chance to shine in a genre that suits his abilities. The story presented in this film is somewhat similar to King of Killers , starring Frank Grillo, where an elite assassin is trapped in a deadly game and he has to fight with other assassins.
The Killer's Game was directed by JJ Perry, a stuntman, director and action choreographer who previously contributed to a number of popular film productions, one of which was John Wick. Day Shift is the first film directed by JJ Perry. This film is a combination of the action, horror and comedy genres, and was produced by Netflix.
The Killer's Game also stars Ben Kingsley, Pom Klementieff, Sofia Boutella, Terry Crews, and WWE wrestler Drew McIntyre. There are also Scott Adkins, Marko Zaror, and Daniel Bernhardt who are increasingly attracting the attention of action fans to watch them.
This project has been in the works since Jay Bonansinga's novel was published in 1997. Over the past few decades, Wesley Snipes, Michael Keaton, and Jason Statham have been rumored to be the main actors.
However, the role ultimately fell to Dave Bautista who was deemed suitable with his charisma, humor and epic fighting abilities. Understandably, before becoming an actor, he was a legendary WWE wrestler who had won many championship titles.
