iKON's Bobby officially started his mandatory military service on Tuesday June 4, 2024. The boy group member from South Korea will undergo basic training and be a full-time army reserve because of his status as a father and having children to support.

Before leaving for military service, Bobby on Monday June 3, 2024 uploaded a photo of short, army-style hair and said goodbye to fans, he even appeared to be giving away 200 free ice creams at the appointed time. "From 6 am to night, I will give 200 ice creams to IKONIC!" Bobby wrote on X (or Twitter).

"I will come back safely!" he continued. 143 Entertainment as the agency previously announced that iKON's Bobby and Chanwoo would enlist in the military at a close time, namely May 21 and 27. However, from the start the agency emphasized that there would be no special celebration.

Some time later, the agency announced again that Bobby had received a new schedule so that he would start his mandatory military service on June 4, 2024. "We would like to thank iKONIC who always provides endless support, encouragement and love to iKON," said the agency.

"Bobby's planned enlistment date has been changed from May 21 to June 4. There was no official event on the enlistment day. We ask for your understanding as they enlisted privately to prevent safety-related accidents due to confusion on site. Thank you." Bobby is the third iKON member to undergo military service after Kim Jin-hwan and Jung Chan-woo.

He debuted as iKON in 2015 and released hit songs such as 'Sniping for Taste' and 'I Loved You'. During his career, Bobby has collaborated with many famous musicians, such as Lee Hi, EPIK HIGH, Kim Jae-hwan, and PSY. The owner of the real name Kim Ji-won then started his solo career with the single entitled Holup! in 2016.

He has just made a solo comeback through the release of Sir. Robert in February 2024. Previously, Bobby also announced plans to marry his fiancée on August 20 2021. Together with his wife, Bobby welcomed the birth of their first child, a boy, in September 2021.
