The Korean film ' Hijacking ' is preparing for its first release this month. Featuring popular actors such as Ha Jung Woo, Yeo Jin Goo , and Sung Dong Il, this film received a lot of attention from the public. Helmed by Kim Sung Han, who was the assistant director for the films '1987' and 'Ashfall', 'Hijacking' tells the story of an emergency crisis that occurs in the air.
The flight crew and a number of passengers faced an extreme situation when a plane was hijacked in 1971. In the film, Ha Jung Woo plays commercial pilot Tae In, who was once a fighter pilot for the Korean Air Force. Joining him is his co-pilot, Gyu Sik, played by veteran actor Sung Dong Il.
Adding to the cast of 'Hijacking' is Chae Soo Bin as Ok Soon, a single flight attendant, and Yeo Jin Joo as Yong Dae, the person who hijacked the plane. Of the various characters, there is one that attracts attention, namely Yeo Jin Goo, because he is the villain in the film. Recently it was revealed the reason why Yeo Jin Goo was chosen to play the villain role.
Very different from the characters he has played before, Yeo Jin Goo was cast as a villain for the first time in his career. According to actor Ha Jung Woo, Yeo Jin Goo was the first choice to play Yong Dae. He explained that the villain must be in his early to mid twenties, he must have the energy and intelligence to hijack a plane.
Ha Jung Woo also added that finding the right actor to play the role was quite challenging. "We also needed a face that fit the period, and about two other actors were selected, but when I saw Yeo Jin Goo at the pre-meeting for 'Bros on Foot', I thought, 'This is him!'," said Ha Jung Woo as quoted from KpopStarz on Saturday June 15, 2024.
Next, Ha Jung Woo also explained what makes Yeo Jin Goo perfect for the role of a villain. "I thought he was the type of prince who had a soft voice, but he has a strong body after lifting weights," he said. Interestingly, Ha Jung Woo teased his co-star and said Yeo Jin Goo was suitable for the role, especially when he drinks alcohol. Meanwhile, 'Hijacking' is scheduled to appear on the big screen on June 21, 2024.
