The music awards show 'MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) 2024' was forced to postpone their schedule and live broadcast this year. Following the broadcast schedule of the United States presidential candidate debate .

Quoting from nme.com on Tuesday August 13, 2024, the 2024 MTV VMA awards ceremony was previously scheduled for September 10, 2024 in New York. However, in order to avoid a schedule clash with the live broadcast of the presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, the event was finally postponed to September 11, 2024.

MTV also announced the news through their official press conference. They said, "Our loyal fans can watch the presidential debate broadcast on September 10, 2024, before watching the most iconic music awards night." 

MTV also did not forget to provide support and encouragement to their viewers to participate in the presidential election on election day. Along with that, MTV also confirmed the appearance of a number of artists who will appear on the 2024 MTV VMA awards stage.  

Starting from Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, and Rauw Alejandro. On the other hand, musicians like Post Malone and Taylor Swift compete as the most nominated artists this year, with a total of 19 nominations between them. 

Taylor Swift leads with a total of 10 nominations this year. While Post Malone has 9 nominations, and most of the nominations that both of them won were for the song 'Fortnight'. Namely, Taylor Swift's song in which Post Malone participated in it. 

Other artists who also won nominations for the 2024 MTV VMAs include Sabrina Carpenter, Eminem, and Ariana Grande, each receiving 6 nominations. Both Taylor Swift and Eminem are nominated for this year's most prestigious award, Video of the Year. 

Four-time winner Taylor Swift is the current holder of the award, for her song 'Anti-Hero'. While Eminem has received a record seven nominations for the award over the years, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, and SZA are also nominated for the award.

Meanwhile, this year's Artist of the Year category  is contested by Taylor Swift, Eminem, Ariana Grande, SZA, Sabrina Carpenter, and Bad Bunny. While the Song of the Year category  is contested by Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Beyoncé, Jack Harlow, Kendrick Lamar, and Teddy Swims.
