Following the controversy surrounding BTS's Suga who was involved in a DUI (Driving Under Influence) case that recently occurred, a number of parties held demonstrations demanding Suga's resignation from BTS.

Quoting from Allkpop on Tuesday August 13, 2024, the demonstration featured wreaths calling for Suga's resignation from BTS. The wreaths were placed in front of the HYBE building in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

The wreaths were inscribed with messages that read, " Min Yoongi, leave the group ", " You were the one who let go of our hands ", and " Before standing in the photo line ". The party that coordinated the action was an anonymous ARMY (BTS fandom). He said that it was not a coordinated action by the entire fandom, because the wreaths were sent by individuals.

"We are holding this protest because no action was taken after HYBE, Big Hit Music, and Suga released false statements," he said. Suga caused an unexpected stir when he was seen riding an electric scooter while drunk. He was arrested on August 6, 2024 and charged with violating the Road Traffic Act.

The Yongsan Police Station, which is handling Suga's case, stated that the electric scooter Suga was riding was classified as a motor vehicle, which under South Korean law is considered the same as operating a car under the influence of alcohol.

In particular, some fans have expressed frustration after Big Hit Music and Suga referred to the scooter as an “ electric kickboard ” and claimed that he had only “drank a beer.” In reality, Suga’s blood alcohol content was 0.227%.

Under current law, if caught riding an electric scooter with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% to less than 0.2%, drivers can face one to two years in prison or a fine ranging from 5 million to 10 million won. Some ARMYs have taken to social media to demand Suga leave the group.

However, posts from other ARMYs who continue to support and cheer for Suga have also surfaced, causing heated debate within the fandom. ARMY who organized the protest stated that if Big Hit Music does not release an additional statement, they will consider continuing the action by sending protest trucks.
