The first teaser trailer for Anthony and Joe Russo's The Electric State has been released by Netflix and features an incredible sci-fi visual treat. This epic film will take audiences to an alternate world in the 1990s, where humans and robots live side by side in peace—until a rebellion changes everything.

The Electric State is based on Simon Stålenhag's graphic novel, which was published in 2017 and received positive reviews, with critics praising the depth of the world it builds and the visuals depicting a desolate, gloomy landscape.

Millie Bobby Brown plays the lead role of Michelle, an orphaned teenager trying to survive in a chaotic world where robots that were once considered an essential part of society are now outcasts. Michelle's life changes completely when she meets Cosmo, a kind but mysterious robot.

The robot is controlled by Christopher, Michelle's younger brother. This surprises Michelle, because she thought Christopher was dead. This discovery leads Michelle to embark on a journey across the American Southwest to search for her brother, while also uncovering what really happened behind Christopher's disappearance.

Along the way, Michelle teams up with Keats (played by Chris Pratt), a smuggler, and a robot named Herman (voiced by Anthony Mackie), as they venture into the Exclusion Zone — a remote desert region where robots are now hiding.

A number of other top stars also enliven this film, starting from Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Giancarlo Esposito, Stanley Tucci, to Woody Norman. Meanwhile, Woody Harrelson, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Hank Azaria, Colman Domingo, and Alan Tudyk lend their voices to several robot characters in the film.

The film is directed by the Russo Brothers, who will next year work on Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars after the huge success of directing Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

The script was written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, longtime Russo Brothers collaborators, who also wrote all four Marvel films. The Electric State is set to hit Netflix on Friday March 14, 2025.
