Renowned director Yorgos Lanthimos is set to release his latest  film, Bugonia. The project is based on the 2003 South Korean sci-fi comedy film Save the Green Planet!. Bugonia has already recruited a number of big name actors to its cast, including Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons. And recently, they announced a new star who has joined the cast.

Citing a report from Variety on Saturday October 19, 2024, Alicia Silverstone, who played Batgirl in Batman & Robin in 1997, is now officially part of the Bugonia film cast. This also serves as a reunion for Alicia Silverstone with Yorgos Lanthimos after their last collaboration in The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017).

Details regarding Silverstone's role in Bugonia are still being kept under wraps. Alicia Silverstone appears in The Killing of a Sacred Deer as the mother of Barry Keoghan's character Martin, and appears in scenes with Colin Farrell's character Steven.

Although her appearance in the film was only a cameo, Alicia Silverstone made such a strong impression that Yorgos Lanthimos cast her again seven years later to join Bugonia. Meanwhile, Emma Stone, who has won two Oscars, has previously collaborated with Yorgos Lanthimos on four projects, namely The Favourite, the short film Bleat, Poor Things, and Kinds of Kindness.

Yorgos Lanthimos often works with the same actors in several of his films, such as Colin Farrell, Olivia Colman, Willem Dafoe, and Margaret Qualley. Jesse Plemons previously starred in Kinds of Kindness and won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival. Now, he is reunited with Yorgos Lanthimos in Bugonia.

Written by Emmy-winning Will Tracy, known for Succession and The Menu , Bugonia tells the story of two young men obsessed with conspiracy theories who kidnap the CEO of a major corporation. They believe that the CEO is an alien who plans to destroy Earth. It is currently uncertain who will play the female CEO. However, Emma Stone is said to be taking the lead role.
