Japanese singer and actor Mizuki Itagaki died at the age of 24. His family announced the sad news in a statement uploaded to his Instagram Story on April 17, 2025. "We regret to inform you that actor Mizuki Itagaki has passed away due to an unexpected incident," he wrote.

"We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the fans who have supported him throughout his life, as well as to everyone who has cared for him," they continued in the statement. The statement continued that Mizuki had been missing since late January 2025.

In the statement, the family said that Mizuki's disappearance was due to mental health issues. "Since the end of January, Mizuki has been missing due to mental health issues that he has been experiencing since last year," the family said.

The family then received news from the police that Mizuki was found dead in Tokyo. "The police and others are continuing the search, and recently, we were contacted by the Tokyo police that his body had been found in the city," the family continued.

They decided to make the announcement because they felt "he wouldn't say goodbye without telling his fans". And hope they can remember his past works with fondness. Mizuki, who was scouted by talent agency Stardust Promotion at the age of 10, was part of J-pop boy band M!lk from 2014 to 2020.

He has also acted in films and dramas including Solomon's Perjury (2015), Hana Moyu (2015) and In-house Marriage Honey (2020). Some of Itagaki's manga or novel-based live-action works include Ushijima the Loan Shark Part 2, Blue Spring Ride, Hibiki, Hot Gimmick: Girl Meets Boy, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! and Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit.

He recently starred in the live-action series adaptation of Kei Sanbe's For the Kid I Saw in My Dreams manga as twin brothers Senri and Kazuto. Itagaki has also appeared in several stage plays including Evangelion Beyond.  In March 2024, Mizuki left Stardust Promotion and her official fan club was disbanded.
