South Korean actor Song Young Kyu, known for his role as Chief Detective Choi in the box office comedy film Extreme Job (2019), was found dead in his car on Monday August 4, 2025 morning Korean time.

According to a report by Edaily via Naver, on Monday August 4, 2025, Song was said to have been under pressure due to netizens' criticism and negative news after being caught in a drunk driving case in June 2025.

"He was stressed by the malicious articles and comments, and the situation was very unfavorable at that time," said a source. However, police have not yet announced the exact cause of death.

Initial investigations revealed no signs of violence or suicide note at the scene. Police also plan to question family and witnesses, and consider an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Song's body is currently lying in state in Special Room 1 of Davos Hospital funeral home, Yongin. Born on April 18, 1970, Song Young Kyu has a long track record in acting.
