Rowoon returns to entertain his fans with the latest Korean drama, 'The Murky Stream'. The drama will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on September 26, 2025. The Murky Stream drama tells the story of the trading area at Maponaru pier.

Maponaru was the busiest and most crowded wharf on the Gyeonggang River, a large waterway that crossed Hanyang in the Joseon Dynasty. With a constant flow of boats and traders arriving, Maponaru became a large market.

Among the traders and laborers, there are bandits who regulate trade activities there. However, these bandits exploit the laborers and traders. Bandits unfairly taxed workers' wages. They also levied various fees on visiting traders.

Rowoon plays Jang Si Yool, a new laborer at Maponaru. Jang Si Yool witnessed firsthand the injustice and suffering experienced by the workers due to the greed of the bandits and the higher-ups behind them.

Until one day, a laborer died hanging from a tree. Si Yool couldn't stand the sight of him. He rebelled and demanded his unpaid wages. Furthermore, Si Yool's figure appeared suspicious. He had a muscular build, unlike the other laborers.

He also had a sword scar on his stomach. Even the local bandit leader suspects Si Yool is a former soldier who escaped. However, Jang Si Yool's identity remains unknown until the end of episode one.

Rowoon's appearance in this drama is quite different from his roles in previous projects. Rowoon usually appears as a handsome, clean-cut man. However, in the first episode of The Murky Stream, Rowoon transforms into a shaggy man with a beard and long hair.
