Son Heung Min, captain of the South Korean national team, expressed his frustration in an emotional Instagram post following the team's exit from the World Cup.

In the message, he apologized to Koreans and football fans for the disappointing result and urged against directing criticism at the players. After experiencing one of the most painful endings of his career, Son Heung Min returned to social media with a lengthy statement reflecting his pain and disappointment.

He stated that, while national team coach Hong Myung Bo has received much criticism, the players must also be protected from undue pressure. In his statement, Son said, "I don't know where to begin. I can't pretend I don't know, and I don't want to avoid the truth."

He then apologized to all South Korean football fans who were devastated by his team's failure in this tournament. "This tournament means more to me than anything, and it feels like the 'stage of a boy's dreams' I always talked about has collapsed.

I feel very complicated and devastated," he continued. Son emphasized that he feels a great responsibility for the fans' disappointment and feels unable to fully express his affection for them.

The message immediately drew an emotional response from fans, many of whom felt it was unfair that Son had to apologize. They consider Son South Korea's eternal captain and support him remaining with the national team until the next World Cup.

"I just want Heung Min to be happy playing football. The players are innocent, and I thank them," wrote one fan. Meanwhile, criticism of Hong Myung Bo has intensified following the team's exit from the group stage.

Prior to his withdrawal, Hong had been criticized for his demeanor in the post-match press conference. Many fans felt his demeanor didn't show enough remorse, adding to the already-existing anger over his coaching decisions. "I feel so disturbed by his expression and voice.

Why does he look so relieved? This is so annoying," said one fan on social media. In an official statement, Hong finally announced his retirement and apologized to fans, accepting all the criticism directed at him.

With this disappointing result, many are questioning the future of South Korean football and the team's leadership. However, Son Heung Min remains a beacon of hope for many fans who hope to see him return to action at the next World Cup.

Meanwhile, fans continue to support Son and hope he can still appear in the next World Cup. "Stay strong, Heung Min! You have to play in the World Cup in four years and erase the regrets from this tournament!" exclaimed one optimistic fan.

Despite the disappointment, Son's statement shows how important fan support is to the players, and how they must remain united in facing future challenges.
