South Korean actor, Gong Yoo is rumored to be playing the main role in the new Netflix original Korean drama series titled Trunk. This news was first reported by TV Daily on February 20 2023. In this drama with the romance genre, Gong Yoo is planned to compete acting with actress Seo Hyun Jin.
According to a source from the Management SOOP agency, the two artists under the auspices of the same agency have received an offer to star in the drama Trunk and are in the process of reviewing it. "Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin have received offers for roles in Trunk and they are positively reviewing the offers," Management SOOP said as quoted by Soompi, Monday February 20, 2023.
Drama Trunk is adapted from a novel with the same title about a marriage service agency that helps to arrange married life with the desired partner. This drama project will be directed by director Kim Kyu Tae, who has worked on Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo to Our Blues. While the script for Trunk was written by Park Eun Young who also wrote the drama Hwarang.
Soompi also leaked an overview of the two actors' roles in the drama Trunk. Gong Yoo is in talks to play a music producer named Han Jung Won who believes all marriages are just scams. Meanwhile, Seo Hyun Jin is planned to play the character Noh In Ji, the deputy head of the NM marriage service agency who chooses to remain single even though her career revolves around marriage.
Gong Yoo himself has been poor in the South Korean entertainment industry. The 43-year-old actor has successfully catapulted many drama projects to films he has starred in, such as Goblin and Train to Busan. Even though he has four heads, his acting skills in romance scenes always make the audience clatter.
Meanwhile, Seo Hyun Jin started her career as a member of the girl group MILK in 2001. Three years later, the group disbanded. Then in 2006 Seo Hyun Jin debuted as a musical actress. The 1985-born actress started to get a lot of fan attention when she starred in Dr. Romantic in 2016. His latest drama project that has been broadcast is Why Her? in the last year.
