BTS's V received heavy criticism from fans after uploading a photo of McDonald's potatoes on his Instagram account on Sunday July 21, 2024. The singer, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung, was caught uploading a photo of French fries from a fast food restaurant that is now the target of a boycott by the BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement due to its support for Israel.

The photo of McDonald's (McD) French fries is on the fourth slide of a series of photos uploaded by the musician via his personal Instagram account. However, there is no caption or caption explaining all the uploads. However, the fans who are familiarly called ARMY admitted to being very disappointed and criticized the uploads via social media.

The criticism came after many ARMYs donated to Palestinians who were victims of genocide by Israel. They even protested the dismissal of Scooter Braun from HYBE because he had openly claimed to be biased towards Israel. Fans have also asked BTS to speak out in solidarity with Palestine.

However, BTS's V uploaded a photo of McD's fries which drew criticism from various parties. McD's support for Israel can be seen from the fast food restaurant donating free food to Israeli soldiers who are at war. The boycott action reached a global level and McDonald's decided to buy all of its Israeli restaurants.

However, this stance did not change BDS to stop launching a boycott because this action only strengthened the McD chain's investment network in Israel. "Instead of terminating the franchise agreements altogether, they are buying up all the Israeli restaurants, pouring more money into Israel's war coffers during the #GazaGenocide against 2.3 million Palestinians," the @BDSmovement account wrote on X or Twitter.

ARMY then raised a number of hashtags on social media asking V to care about the ongoing humanitarian crisis. They also urged the musician to speak up and apologize for the post. However, until now, BIGHIT MUSIC, HYBE, and BTS's V himself have not given an official response to the chaos that is currently occurring after the upload of the photo.
