Kwon Ji Yong aka G-Dragon (GD) can now freely use his identity and stage name, without being constrained by YG Entertainment's management rules. Since his debut with BIGBANG, YG Entertainment has been home to G-Dragon and holds the copyrights to several names including G-Dragon and GD.
As of July 1, 2024, YG Entertainment officially handed over the copyright of the name to Kwon Ji Yong. Quoted from Segye Ilbo, there were no conditions requested by Yang Hyun Suk's management from the artist. YG Entertainment has confirmed this matter.
"It is true that we have fully assigned all copyrights to G-Dragon's stage name including 'G-Dragon' and 'GD' to G-Dragon," they said. G-Dragon's comeback feels even more real! Previously, Galaxy Corporation management confirmed that the artist would release a new project towards the end of this year.
G-Dragon's close friend, comedian Park Myung Soo leaked that the Crooked singer would make a comeback in October. But the management did not confirm when exactly. "I heard G-Dragon will be making a comeback a month after next month," he said.
This broadcast takes place on August 1st, one month from next month (September) which means October. The management did not deny the artist's comeback plan because previously there was news that he would release an album before the end of 2024. However, they have not been able to provide any certainty regarding the October release plan.
"There is no specific time for G-Dragon's comeback. The news about him being ready to make a comeback in October is not true because discussions are still ongoing about it. But as previously announced, he will make a comeback in the second half of this year," said the agency Galaxy Corporation.
