The sexual crime case involving Taeil, formerly of NCT, is now said to be related to the alleged rape of a woman who was drunk. Chosun Ilbo reported on Monday October 7, 2024, Taeil was arrested for raping the drunk woman with his two friends. However, Taeil's two friends were said to not be famous people or celebrities.

Currently, Taeil's case is still being investigated by the Bangbae Police Station and has been forwarded to the Seoul Central Prosecutor's Office. However, the prosecutor's office has not yet summoned Taeil for further questioning.

Under South Korean law, special rape cases refer to acts such as when two or more people work together to rape a victim who is unconscious or has no way of resisting. If Taeil admits to the charges, the musician could face more than seven years in prison.

On the other hand, SM Entertainment as the agency only released a short response to the news. They said it was difficult to confirm the report because the case was still under investigation. "It is difficult to comment because the case is currently under investigation," said SM Entertainment.

The alleged sexual crime case came to light when SM Entertainment suddenly announced Taeil's departure from NCT on August 28, 2024. SM Entertainment later said that they had discussed the case with Taeil until both parties agreed that Taeil would be kicked out of NCT.

On the same day, the Bangbae Police Station confirmed that there was a report of a case of alleged sexual crimes involving Taeil and that it was currently being investigated by them. Newsen reported that the police received a complaint from a woman with the initials A.

A claimed to have been sexually harassed by Taeil in June 2024. Since then, the Bangbae Police Station has investigated and questioned Taeil further. Taeil made his debut as a member of NCT's subgroup, NCT U, in 2016. He then took a break from group activities in 2023 due to an injury to his right thigh in a traffic accident on August 15, 2024.
