The latest Korean drama produced by MBC, entitled When the Phone Rings, will finally be released for the first time on Friday, November 22, 2024. This drama stars Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin as the main couple.
Ahead of its release, the production team has shared a sneak peek showing the beginning of Yoo Yeon Seok receiving a threatening phone call from an unknown person. Based on the popular web novel of the same name, When the Phone Rings will tell the story of Baek Sa Eon and Hong Hee Joo, a couple who marry for convenience and the romance that grows between them after a threatening phone call.
In newly released photos from the drama via MBC's Instagram, @mbcdrama_now, presidential spokesman Baek Sa Eon and his wife Hong Hee Joo—who are in their third year of contract marriage—make their first public appearance together at an official embassy party.
Even though they have been married for three years, because they have never been seen in public together, no one knows that Hong Hee Joo is the wife of the famous Baek Sa Eon. Since their marriage was strictly business and they rarely exchanged words even at home, the couple felt awkward and tense during their first social event.
Finally, the usually quiet Hong Hee Joo explodes during the event, raising curiosity about what went wrong. Visibly upset and passionately complaining to Baek Sa Eon in sign language, Hong Hee Joo surprised her husband by finally releasing all the anger towards him that she had been holding in for years.
In the final still, Baek Sa Eon receives a threatening phone call from his wife's kidnapper, who calls every night at 10 p.m. After checking his watch, Baek Sa Eon carefully scanned his surroundings for the caller, who also seemed to be at the party. The drama's production team teased, "From Episode 1, the relationship between 'show-window couple' Baek Sa Eon and Hong Hee Joo will be shaken.
