Motel California leads Na In Woo and Lee Se Young showcase ethereal chemistry in a newly released pictorial for ELLE Korea, bringing their on-screen romance to life through a fairy tale-inspired spread released December 24, 2024.
The drama, based on a novel, follows the story of Ji Gang Hee, who returns to her hometown after 12 years only to reunite with her first love. Lee Se Young opened up about her first impression of her character Ji Gang Hee, noting, “Usually in dramas, you see ordinary protagonists growing through unexpected events they overcome.
But Gang Hee faced challenges before establishing her identity, being ‘mixed-race’ and ‘living in a motel.’ I was curious about how she would overcome these struggles. ”Reflecting on her career as an actor, Lee shared, “I think living life as an actor is blessed. I love my fellow colleagues, and I love being on set with them.
It brings me so much joy when someone who used to be the youngest staff member returns as a department head or debuts as a director.” Na In Woo, who portrays Cheon Yeon Soo, who’s harbored a lifelong love for Gang Hee, discussed his approach to the role: “He’s an absolutely harmless character.
I don’t think it’s a fantasy for someone to love only one person their entire life. While waiting for just one person is hard, people do achieve it. I focused on expressing detailed emotions to make it realistic. I imagined how someone who endured such a long wait would have aged.”
Speaking about his personality, the actor revealed, “I’ve never given up on anything. I’m not good at letting things go. While it could be seen as stubbornness in a negative light, I think not giving up can be a crucial factor in times like these. I try to take it in a positive way.”
