Worrying news came from the filming location of Nam Joo Hyuk 's latest drama titled "East Palace". On December 21, 2024 at 2:08 a.m. KST, the drama's filming location experienced a terrible fire. According to firefighters, a fire broke out at the drama's filming location in Misan-myeon, Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province.
In response to the massive fire, officials issued a Level-1 emergency response. Fortunately, firefighters managed to control the fire within two hours. However, the blaze is said to have burned the entire 3,655-square-meter (about 39,340-square-foot) building, including the lighting equipment stored inside.
Along with this report, the condition of Joo Hyuk, the cast and production team of "East Palace" was also revealed. According to information, the filming location was unoccupied at the time, so no one was injured in the horrific incident.
After the fire was extinguished, local law enforcement and firefighters are currently conducting a thorough investigation. The exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage have not yet been determined.
Along with the news of the fire, the Yeoncheon Fire Department released photos from the scene. It can be seen that the fire was so big that it completely devoured the building where the "East Palace" was filmed.
"East Palace" follows the story of Gu Cheon (Joo Hyuk), who can traverse the ghost world and defeat them with his sword. He travels to the past and meets Saeng Gang (Roh Yoon Seo), a palace maid with the ability to hear ghosts. The two will eventually work together to help the King (Cho Seung Woo) unravel the palace's curse.
In "East Palace", Gu Cheon is told to infiltrate the palace to solve a strange incident that occurred in the royal family. In the process, he will face a very dark world. However, the man will be helped by Saeng Gang in completing his mission.
The script for "East Palace" was written by Kwon So Ra and Seo Jae Won, the screenwriters behind "Bulgasal: Immortal Souls". Meanwhile, the drama will be helmed by director Choi Jung Kyu of "The Devil Judge". The drama is set to air around 2025.
