Once again, Netflix's 'Squid Game' series has gained attention from viewers globally. Through this second season , it continues the story of Seong Gi Hun (Lee Jung Jae) who returns to the game with the aim of revenge.
Three days after its release, the series 'Squid Game' season 2 managed to rank first in 93 countries around the world, as quoted from Sport Chosun, on Sunday December 29, 2024. This ranking is spread across various parts of the world with dominance in the United States and Asian countries.
According to Flix Patrol, an OTT ranking site, the series ' Squid Game 2 ' ranked first in the category of non-English TV shows on Netflix. Based on the data collected, the spike in viewers occurred on the second and third days while on the first day it still showed low viewership figures.
The series continues to be popular worldwide like its previous seasons. Ranked #1 in countries such as the United States, Japan, France, Germany, Brazil, Bangladesh, India, New Zealand, Indonesia, and in its home country of South Korea. Amid criticism from various foreign media, it turns out that the series is still popular.
After its airing, 'Squid Game' season 2 immediately received criticism from several foreign media outlets who cornered it after it aired by saying it 'lost its sharpness' or 'originality'. However, on the other hand, it also received support with positive reviews. Specifically, 'Squid Game' season 2 centers on the story of Gi Hun who wants to stop the game.
This is an event against the Frontman (Lee Byung Hun) who is the leader of the game. Initially the game went as it should and Gi Hun tried to keep the participants alive until the end. But towards the fourth day, Gi Hun invited some people who believed in him to start a resistance by seizing weapons from the pink-clad guards.
Unfortunately, the rebellion led by Gi Hun failed and caused more people in his camp to die. The end of season two still leaves a big question mark because the story stops in the middle of Gi Hun's rebellion. Viewers are curious about what happened after the failure. So, have you watched it?
