American singer, songwriter, and actress, Ariana Grande responded to questions about her latest appearance which is considered thinner. She realized that the comments kept popping up on social media and became a public conversation.
In a recent interview for Wicked, Ariana Grande was asked how she deals with the world’s beauty standards and the pressure that women have to look perfect all the time. Grande couldn’t help but feel emotional when she heard it. “I’ve been doing this in public since I was 16 or 17, so I hear everything,” Ariana Grande told Page Six .
“I hear every version of what’s wrong with me. And when you guys fix it, and it’s wrong for some reason. But it all comes down to the simple thing, your looks?” he said. Furthermore, he admitted that it was difficult to keep himself from such comments when he was younger and heard them.
“I think it’s something that’s uncomfortable no matter what scale you’re on, even if you go to Thanksgiving dinner, someone’s grandma is like, ‘Oh my God, you’re getting thinner! What’s wrong?’ or ‘You look fat! What happened?’” Grande explained. “I think in today’s society there’s a side of us that we don’t necessarily have to do, commenting on other people’s appearances.
What they think is going on behind the scenes or their health or how they present themselves,” Grande said. The Glinda actress feels lucky to be surrounded by people who always support her performance. She herself feels no need to explain her position continuously.
"I didn't respond to it. I have a job, I have a life to live, I have friends to love, I have a lot of love and that kind of thing is not allowed so I don't have the distance for that," she continued. “You can protect yourself from that kind of noise, whether it’s at a reunion or online.
If you have to block people, I don’t care if you have to delete the app. Take care of yourself because no one deserves to say things like that,” Ariana Grande said. This is not the first time Grande has spoken about her changing appearance after starring in the film Wicked and filming in April 2023.
"The body you're comparing me to now is an unhealthy version of me. I was on antidepressants and drinking and eating badly," Ariana Grande said. “I hit rock bottom when I saw you guys looking at it as healthy but it’s not healthy. You never know what someone is going through,” she said.
