The cast of "Squid Game 2" were guest stars on Netflix Korea's YouTube channel on January 1, 2025. They discussed various iconic scenes in the drama. One of them was the scene where the character Front Mant (Lee Byung Hun) slapped himself hard.

In the video, Lee Jung Jae first tells how Byung Hun is so into filming the 5-man-6-legged race. "Byung Hun is really into the game," Jung Jae says. Byung Hun then tells the reason why his character is enthusiastic about the game.

"The character of In Ho (Front Man) who comes in and wants to destroy everything is the big picture. When the game is on the line, and In Ho really becomes a real part of the team, he finds himself really having fun. That duality makes it both challenging and fun to act," Byung Hun answered.

One of the most memorable moments was the scene where Byung Hun slapped himself hard in frustration after failing to spin a top. The scene left the audience stunned. The actor did not hesitate to reveal the facts behind the scene.

Byung Hun admitted, "I slapped myself really hard. The director asked me to do it in one take if possible, and I think we did about three takes. Not because they were worried that I would hurt myself, but because they were worried that the bruises might show, which makeup wouldn't cover."

Hearing that, Lee Seo Hwan added, "The funny part is that Byung Hun is so good at spinning tops that we keep getting NGs. He can spin it while blindfolded or even throw it randomly behind him, and it will still work perfectly."

Byung Hun also shared his secret, "A few months before filming, the production team gave me the toy to practice. I spent time learning how to tie the rope quickly and throw it successfully. That practice really paid off during filming."

In addition, Byung Hun revealed that he did not expect the production team to use Shin Hae Chul's song "To You" for the game. "I didn't expect them to actually use this music. We always edit on the spot while filming," said the actor. "At that time, the director asked us half-jokingly what we thought about using this music.

I remember all the actors and staff laughing for a long time, because this song is already famous as a fight song. This episode is like a bloodbath, so I thought using such a hopeful fight song would really capture the irony of the situation.

Wow, it seems like the director decided to use this song," continued Byung Hun. Jo Yu Ri, who successfully played the ddakji game in one take, revealed, “I practiced ddakji since filming the ‘Red Light, Green Light’ scene.

I did well during practice, but on the day of the actual filming, I had a little trouble.” After that, Kang Ha Neul talked about his jackstones (gonggi) scene, “I practiced a lot for it.” However, Seo Hwan added, “He practiced a lot, but someone else did the actual moves. You should thank that person.”
