"Running Man" aired its latest episode on Sunday February 23, 2025. In the episode, Yoo Jae Suk and friends were asked to play the "SOS Extreme Cleaning Zone" race. They appeared to be visiting Kim Jong Kook's house .
Previously, the "Running Man" members expressed their desire to help clean up Jong Kook's messy living space. It is known that Jong Kook lives alone because he is not married and does not live with his parents. When visiting Jong Kook's house, "Running Man" viewers saw his balcony filled with empty shopping bags.
The "Running Man" members began to complain about it and suggested that the pile of unnecessary items be thrown away. However, Jong Kook insisted on keeping it and secretly kept it, which caught everyone's attention. The member nicknamed Tiger also urged the members not to throw away the shopping bags he had collected.
Seeing Jong Kook's firm stance, Ji Ye Eun couldn't help but ask why her colleague was holding on to the pile of shopping bags. "If you can't even throw out the trash, why are you hoarding these?" Ye Eun asked. The other "Running Man" members also teased Jong Kook who had this strange habit.
They teased him by saying, "You're like Uncle Plastic Bag. When are you going to use all of this? You won't be able to use it for the rest of your life." Ye Eun even begged Jong Kook to throw away the pile of used shopping bags. "Please, just throw them away, senior!" Ye Eun begged.
However, Jong Kook begged back by saying, "Don't touch the plastic bags, please." Jong Kook then explained, "Listen to me. I plan to recycle this. If I throw it away, how can I recycle it?" Haha shook his head and said, "This is like something you'd see on 'That's Amazing.'"
Despite constant teasing, Jong Kook fiercely defends his collection of used shopping bags, and more plastic bags start flying out of the balcony. Jae Suk comments, "Honestly, this could be featured on 'That's Amazing.'" Jong Kook then replied, “I did this because I’m planning to move,” which made everyone burst out laughing.
