BLACKPINK’s Lisa has opened up about her acting debut in HBO’s hit series The White Lotus Season 3. In an interview with The Wrap on February 17, 2025, the K-pop sensation shared her thoughts on joining the acclaimed black comedy series, which explores human desires and conflicts against the backdrop of luxury resorts.

The third season, filmed across Thailand’s Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok, features Lisa as Mook, a resort health mentor, alongside industry veterans Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, and Jason Isaacs. “I wanted to switch to a new chapter for my life,” Lisa revealed. “‘The White Lotus’ opportunity came in, and [I] was like, ‘Why not just give it a try?’ I’m a big fan of ‘The White Lotus’ already — I have to try, even if I don’t get it.”

According to HBO’s production team, while their co-producer and casting director recommended Lisa during the Thailand casting process, executive producer Dave Bernad and creator Mike White were unfamiliar with both Lisa and BLACKPINK. The superstar underwent the same rigorous audition process as all other candidates, with producers confirming they “treated it like we treated every other casting.”

“I sent over my video tape and I got a callback, and then I went to see Mike White and did another audition in front of him, and I got a call that I got the role. It was not easy,” Lisa shared about her journey. On embracing this new challenge, she added, “Acting is like a new world to me.

I was like, ‘This is insane,’ but I really had fun while shooting it.” Bernad praised the global pop star’s performance, stating, “She was amazing. [She] blew us away.” While initially concerned about potential complications due to her international stardom, he noted, “she could not be more down to earth as a human … her approach to it was as professional and as dedicated as everyone else was.”
