JYJ's Kim Jaejoong (Hero Jaejoong) is known to have 8 older sisters with the oldest having an age difference of up to 20 years from him. With a fairly large number of older siblings, Jaejoong also has around 13 nieces and nephews. One of Jaejoong's nieces is apparently married and pregnant.

On March 24, 2025, the idol revealed that he would soon be a grandfather. "First idol grandpa," he wrote on Instagram Story. However, Jaejoong still has to wait 10 more months before officially becoming a grandfather at the age of not yet 40. "In 10 months… I will be a grandfather.

A new life has come to my nephew's family!," he added. On the other hand, Jaejoong has shown his interactions with his family several times on the KBS program "Fun Staurant". The man also admitted that he is actually not his parents' biological child, but was adopted.

On another occasion, Jaejoong's stepmother once revealed the reason why she adopted the idol when he was still a baby. In fact, at that time her financial condition was also difficult because she had to support 8 children at once. "I will never forget the day a female acquaintance brought him to me.

She said she had a story and asked me to raise him. At that time I said, 'I have many children of my own. I am not sure if I can do it'. But she insisted, saying that she knew I would raise him well," her mother said. Her stepmother looked at baby Jaejoong's face and saw him so adorable with his eyes shining.

"I thought, 'How could someone leave him?' and hugged him. In my arms, he said, 'Mommy, Mommy,' and it touched my heart," she continued. His stepmother felt grateful for raising Jaejoong. "He is a very devoted child.

He is the most loving and devoted child in the whole world. Thank you, my love," the mother said while crying. Hearing his adoption story, Jaejoong felt very grateful. "I'm grateful. Whatever the reason, she accepted me and raised me healthily. That means a lot to me," he said.

Jaejoong also said that he received many questions when his adoption story was revealed. "People call me a dutiful son, but I don't know. What I did for my parents was my rightful duty as their son. If it seems special, it's because it was broadcast," Jaejoong said humbly.
