IU invited Park Bo Gum to be a guest star on her new YouTube channel content titled "Mini Palette" on March 22, 2025. On that occasion, the two young stars discussed their experiences while filming the Netflix drama "When Life Gives You Tangerines".

IU revealed that she had watched up to episode 13 the night before and was deeply moved. "I cried so much. Seeing scenes that I've never seen before, especially when Ae Sun and Gwan Sik grow up, brought tears to my eyes," she said.

After that, Park Bo Gum expressed his gratitude for being given the opportunity to star in "When Life Gives You Tangerines". "All the characters are alive and well developed. I am very grateful and proud," said the handsome actor.

However, Park Bo Gum also touched on the audience's reaction to his reduced screen time in the 2nd and 3rd seasons of "When Life Gives You Tangerines". "Many people congratulated me, but also wished there were more scenes where I cut my hair and when Ae Sun cut her hair into a short bob.

The story quickly shifted to our roles as parents, but I told my friends to keep watching because we still appear throughout the story," he said. IU agreed and emphasized that their younger versions will continue to be shown in flashbacks. "Our storytelling approach is unique.

Even from the first episode, the first scene starts with the older Ae Sun. For those who miss our younger selves, we are still there, so please stay with us until the end," said IU. On the other hand, the third season of "When Life Gives You Tangerines" (episodes 9–12) was released by Netflix on March 21, 2025.

The plot focuses on the old age of Ae Sun (Moon So Ri) and Gwan Sik (Park Hae Joon), along with the life of their daughter Geum Myeong (IU) while in Seoul. The new chapter of "When Life Gives You Tangerines" introduces a new romantic storyline for Geum Myeong and her boyfriend Young Beom (Lee Jun Young).

Plus, Geum Myeong will likely have a new romance with Park Chung Seob (Kim Seon Ho), who is suspected to be her future husband. Given Park Bo Gum's diminished role in the second half of the drama, some fans have argued that the actor was essentially just the male lead for the first half and part of the second half.

His role has since been overshadowed by Jun Young and Seon Ho. In response to criticism over Park Bo Gum's reduced screen time, Netflix spoke out on March 22, 2025, saying, "'When Life Gives You Tangerines' depicts the adventurous life story of Ae Sun and Gwan Sik, and we plan to deliver lots of fun and emotion through Ae Sun and Gwan Sik."

Gwan Sik who is middle-aged as well as through Ae Sun and young Gwan Sik." Netflix further said, "Please show a lot of interest in the story of Ae Sun and Gwan Sik, along with Geum Myeong and Eun Myeong who will follow in the next four chapters."
