BLACKPINK attended a major awards ceremony held on August 29, 2022 in the United States. The event, which was held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, was also attended by Cardi B, Harry Styles , Taylor Swift , and Nicki Minaj. Not only appearing as one of the line-ups , one member of BLACKPINK won a phenomenal award.
Lisa became the first and only solo artist to take home the 'Best Kpop' category at the MTV VMA. In the previous year it was won by BTS for three consecutive years. Lisa debuted solo with the mini album LALISA. The girl from Thailand received the prestigious award for her solo debut in the international arena.
Meanwhile, the competing nominees are BTS with 'Yet To Come', ITZY with 'LOCO', SEVENTEEN with 'HOT', Stray Kids with 'MANIAC' and TWICE with 'The Feels'. Lisa went up to the MTV VMA stage to pick up her winning trophy while thanking those who have contributed to her solo debut, "I can't be this happy. Thank you for giving me such a pleasant honor at the MTV VMAs.
