SHINee member Key has issued a personal apology after admitting he received medical treatment from the woman at the center of the illegal medical practice scandal. On December 17, 2025, SHINee’s Key posted a statement on social media addressing the controversy.
“I sincerely apologize for causing concern to many due to the discussions surrounding me recently,” he wrote. He expressed his shock over the revelations about the woman accused of performing unauthorized medical procedures.
“I am also confused and bewildered by the facts that have come to light,” Key admitted. “I regret not being able to clarify my stance more swiftly.” Reflecting on his actions, Key added, “I have always prided myself on staying away from such controversies.
However, I now realize that this belief may have prevented me from wisely assessing my surroundings. I feel incredibly sorry and ashamed towards the many people who have trusted and supported me.”
He pledged to cooperate fully with any necessary steps, stating, “I will diligently undertake all actions within my capacity regarding this incident and take time to reflect on myself and my surroundings.”
In response, SM Entertainment announced that Key will be taking a hiatus. “Recognizing the gravity of this issue, Key has decided to withdraw from his currently scheduled activities and ongoing programs,” the agency stated.
