South Korean actor Ahn Sung Ki choked while eating on Tuesday (December 30, 2025) and was rushed to a nearby hospital. He is currently in critical condition. According to The Korea Herald, the 73-year-old actor lost consciousness after choking yesterday.
He suffered cardiac arrest. Upon arrival at the emergency room, he was immediately admitted to intensive care. His condition has not improved. Since 2022, Ahn Sung Ki has been open about his blood cancer, which he has been battling since 2021. At the time, he said he was in remission.
However, during a recent medical checkup, his illness returned, and he continued to undergo treatment. Despite this, Ahn Sung Ki remains active in the film industry. Attending cinema-related events demonstrates his unwavering passion for South Korean films.
Ahn Sung Ki made his debut as a child actor in 1957 in The Twilight Train. Since then, he has appeared in over 200 films. Some of them include Good Windy Days, Deep Blue Night, Two Cops, and Silmido.
