Last year, NCT's Lucas stumbled upon a controversy that put him on hiatus. The NCT personnel from China were accused of having an affair by netizens who claimed to be his ex-girlfriends. The netizen behind the Twitter account @ooooshiiim claimed to be Lucas NCT's ex-girlfriend who came from Korea.
In August 2021, he posted some 'evidence' and accused Lucas of having an affair, gaslighting and being a gold digger. Following the upload of the Twitter account @ooooshiiim, two netizens appeared who claimed to be Lucas NCT's ex-girlfriend and came from China. They uploaded several photos of Lucas as 'evidence' on Weibo.
One of them said Lucas had taken advantage of his fans. As a result of these accusations, Lucas' biggest fansite in China (Lucas Chinese Fanclub) resigned. They canceled NCT's Lucas birthday project and refunded the fans' money that had been collected within 48 hours. SM Entertainment also released an official statement following the Lucas NCT controversy.
The agency canceled the promotion of the song and the release of the MV for 'Jalapeño' which Lucas sang with NCT's Hendery. On the same day, Lucas NCT uploaded an apology letter written in Chinese. The owner of the Instagram account @lucas_xx444 revealed that he would stop all his activities to take time to reflect on himself.
A number of fans finally hired an investigative team to uncover the truth. As reported by Soompi, Lumis (as a fan of Lucas NCT ) found that the owner of the Twitter account @ooooshiiim was not a woman from Korea but a man from Indonesia. He manipulated the contents of messages, photographs and voice messages which he claimed were 'evidence'.
Meanwhile, two other fans claiming to be former NCT Lucas were revealed to be men from China. After a five-month hiatus, NCT's Lucas uploaded his latest photo on Instagram. On Thursday Feb, 10, 2022, the owner of the real name Wong Yuk Hei shared a photo of a seascape with a black and white filter.
Lucas NCT did not write a caption to share the latest news. However, fans were made hysterical because they had been left on hiatus for months. While on hiatus, Lucas NCT's name was not included in the sticker that became the merchandise of the NCT group like the other 22 personnel. Lucas was also absent from WayV's third anniversary celebration.
