During 2021, NCT released a number of albums. Both in large groups and sub-units. Now, SM Entertainment has announced the total sales figures for the albums released by NCT 127, NCT Dream, and WayV, as well as the 2021 NCT album. As of December 27, 2021, NCT has managed to sell 10.9 million copies of albums.
In detail, NCT Dream contributed sales of 3.3 million album copies through Hot Source and Hello Future. NCT 127 managed to sell a total of 3.6 million copies through the third full album, Sticker, and the third repackage album entitled Favorite. Meanwhile, for NCT's full album entitled Universe, which was recently released, they managed to record album sales of 1.7 million copies.
With all the achievements that NCT has achieved in 2021, high expectations are given for their activities next year. NCT debuted through their first sub-unit, NCT U, in April 2016. At that time they released double singles, namely The 7th Sense and Without You. In July 2016, the second sub-unit followed to debut, namely NCT 127.
NCT Dream then followed in August 2016 through Chewing Gum. In 2019, SM Entertainment debuted a Chinese sub-unit called WayV. They debuted through The Vision. Through the SM Congress 2021 event some time ago, Lee Soo Man with Doyoung, Mark, and Kun discussed NCT's future plans. One of the most anticipated projects is NCT Hollywood.
SM Entertainment will team up with MGM Studios to form NCT Hollywood. Through the audition program, they will select 21 trainees who will later be brought to South Korea and undergo training there. "NCT Hollywood will become a new leader in culture and music globally.
Among the many other groups, NCT is quickly taking over with their progressive music," said Mark Burnett of MGM Studios. "Twenty-one selected people will join SM in South Korea and undergo a K-Pop bootcamp. They will experience firsthand the authentic SM culture and training program," he continued.
