The 50th International Emmy Awards were held on Monday, November 21, 2022. The event was held in New York and was attended by a number of South Korean stars. At the event, the Korean drama The King's Affection took home a trophy. The series, starring Park Eun Bin to Rowoon SF9, was rewarded with the Best Telenovela award.

The King's Affection managed to beat a number of series from a number of countries. Namely, Nos Tempos do Imperador from Brazil, Two Lives from Spain, and You Are My Hero from China. The King's Affection's victory at the 50th International Emmy Awards set a new record. The Korean drama that aired on KBS became the first Korean drama to succeed in bringing home a trophy at this prestigious event.

Lee Geon Joon, who is in charge of the drama department at KBS, said he was very happy that The King's Affection received the award. In the future, he promises to make other Korean dramas of a higher quality so that they get the attention of the global public. "I am very happy that The King's Affection can win the International Emmy Awards. 

It is a pleasure to see Korean dramas get awards," said Lee Geon Joon. "I feel that I have a responsibility at this time because Korean content is getting a lot of love from all over the world. We will do our best so that KBS dramas can play an important role in maintaining the potential of Korean content," he concluded.

The King's Affection is a Korean drama set in the Joseon Dynasty, when giving birth to twins was a curse. When the empress gave birth to twins girl and boy, the girl was expelled from the palace while the boy was treated as a potential successor to the throne. But an incident made the prince died. So, the twin returned to the palace and disguised himself as a man and became a prince.
