Former BIGBANG's Seungri was declared free from prison after being involved in a prostitution scandal. A number of Korean netizens also criticized the director of the Burning Sun nightclub for receiving a reduced prison term, from three years to 18 months.

Previously in January 2020, former BIGBANG's Seungri was indicted for 9 counts including procurement and mediation of prostitution, embezzlement of business funds and income, attempted destruction of evidence, distribution of illegal film content, illegal film content, illegal gambling, and violation of the food sanitation law.

The former BIGBANG member was initially sentenced to three years in prison with a fine of 1.1 billion won. However, Seungri's former BIGBANG prison term was reduced to 18 months after submitting an appeal to the Supreme Court. On Thursday February 9, 2023, an official from the Ministry of Justice reported that former BIGBANG's Seungri had left the Yeonju Penitentiary.

However, it was revealed that he was just released today, Saturday February 11, 2023. Following this news, JTBC released the court records and indictments of ex BIGBANG's Seungri , which so far have never been revealed to the public. Former BIGBANG Seungri was proven to provide sexual services to Burning Sun investors by renting a female companion.

It all started in December 2015, when Seungri picked up an investor from Japan at the airport. The bodyguards then escorted the investor to the hotel. According to a JTBC report, Seungri has offered the service to Japanese, Hong Kong, and Taiwanese investors 29 times. His lawyer has denied the accusations. But the Burning Sun staff revealed his involvement.

The 32-year-old singer was also revealed to have recorded a number of women illegally after the fanmeeting. During BIGBANG's fanmeeting tour in China in June 2016, he filmed three women naked on a bed and uploaded it on the Kakao Talk group chat. The news that former BIGBANG's Seungri is free from prison has now drawn criticism from Korean netizens.

Not a few are worried that he will continue his career in the entertainment industry. "Go back to prison," "I don't want him to go back to television and after thinking that enough time has passed," "I still can't believe he was charged with nine offenses and only got a prison sentence of 1 year and 6 months," commented a number of Korean netizens such as reported from Koreaboo.
