News emerged that BLACKPINK's Lisa would not renew her contract with YG Entertainment. This news came after an agency in China tried to hook BLACKPINK's Lisa to appear at an event, but was rejected due to contract problems. Lisa's exclusive contract and all BLACKPINK members will end in August this year.
The process of talks for a contract extension is still being discussed until now. An article published by Munhwa Ilbo states that it is still uncertain whether Lisa's contract with YG will be renewed. Munhwa Ilbo's claim came from a source from China who was trying to get Lisa to appear on the show in the last quarter of 2023.
But when talking to YG about Lisa's schedule, the party got the impression that Lisa couldn't join the show because her contract would end in August. "We discussed (with YG) about Lisa's appearance (on our program), but we got the impression that it was very difficult to arrange a schedule with Lisa after August because currently the contract extension (Lisa with YG) is still uncertain," said the party.
This excitement reached YG Entertainment and they immediately opened their voices. YG denied the news about Lisa not extending the contract with them. In addition, YG also emphasized that the rejection made to the job offer in China in question was not due to contractual issues. But because Lisa's schedule is very tight in the middle of the BLACKPINK world tour which is still running.
"The uncertain schedule is due to problems with the tour schedule as well as Lisa's busy individual activities. It has nothing to do with the renewal of the contract. The renewal of the contract is still being discussed," said YG Entertainment. To be sure, until now there is still no clarity whether the four BLACKPINK members will extend their contract with YG after August. We will only know about this in the future.
