South Korean singer and actor Rain was accused of being involved in fraud amounting to 8.5 billion KRW in real estate transaction fees on Tuesday September 26, 2023. The claim was according to a report from media outlet Money Today on Monday September 25, 2023 and was made by someone identified as 'A.'

Reporting from Allkpop media, lawyers for 'A', Kim Du Jin and Jang Jung Hoon from Seobuk Law Firm, officially filed a complaint against the artist at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul. This complaint was submitted by his party precisely last month. In their statement, they revealed that Rain expressed his desire to acquire a building and a plot of land belonging to 'A' in Gyeonggi Hwaseong Namyang Newtown.

Then, 'A' offered a selling price of 25 billion KRW to facilitate the transaction. After that, Rain proposed to 'A' to buy Rain's house in Itaewon, Seoul to help generate the funds needed for this deal and 'A' accepted Rain's proposal without any problems. The purchase was finally completed by 'A' by buying Rain's house for 8.5 billion KRW.

Then, Rain as a representative of the Mega Big Entertainment company bought building 'A' for 23.5 billion KRW in the same year just two months after the contract was signed. However, this transaction turned out to cause disputes. 'A' claims that he was unable to carry out due diligence and inspect Rain's property.

Real estate agent Jung responded to 'A''s complaint by saying, "Rain is a famous celebrity, and his wife Kim Tae Hee is at home, so he doesn't want to go public." The problem finally occurred when 'A' was only given a photo of the house, after he complained by saying, "If I can't even confirm the property myself when buying an expensive property, shouldn't you at least give me a photo?"

In response to his complaint, Jung received a photo from a Rain company staff member named Park, and forwarded the photo to A. Complications then arose when 'A' claimed that the property he had obtained was not depicted accurately in the photo he received. Contrary to the pictures provided, the house does not have an outdoor pool and the exterior is different.

The internal condition also looked dilapidated with the wall paper torn and signs on the walls scattered everywhere. This discrepancy resulted in 'A' then asking Mr Jung for clarification. "Rain pleaded privacy concerns, refused to disclose the house, and misrepresented its condition and value.

Therefore, the complainant was deceived into purchasing the property, which led to a false loss of 8.5 billion KRW in real estate transactions," said the legal representatives' A'. Hearing the accusations leveled against the artist, the company representing Rain finally opened its voice in response to a news report from the Money Today outlet.

They revealed that until now their party had not officially received the complaint. His party stated, “There was only a recent call from the police station regarding the complaint. Therefore, we have requested that the case be forwarded to Gangnam Police Station, which is under our jurisdiction.” According to Rain's team, the allegation that the house was never shown to 'A' is false.

They said that Rain had the intention to show the house, and even showed it twice to wife 'A' through his father. It also revealed that correspondence had been carried out and members of the real estate agent's staff were able to support this claim. "The accusation that Rain sent a fake photo of an outdoor swimming pool is not true.

The photo in question is actually Rain's profile photo on KakaoTalk. We urge everyone to refer to satellite images and "building records which clearly show that there is no swimming pool. Fabricating such lies when selling a property worth 8.5 billion KRW is unreasonable," Rain's representative argued.

However, 'A' representatives immediately responded to Rain's defense via YouTuber Gu Je Yeok. "Rain's claims of showing the house are completely untrue and we are outraged by his baseless lies. We plan to release further evidence to debunk Rain's deceptive statements," he said.
