The ban on traveling or traveling abroad that G-Dragon previously received regarding an investigation into a drug case was finally lifted. Quoting from Allkpop on Monday November 27, 2023, following negative drug results from a series of tests he had undergone, G-Dragon was finally free from the travel ban after one month.
According to the legal community on Monday November 27, 2023, the Drug Crime Investigation Unit of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency decided not to extend the ' travel ban ' issue for Kwon Ji Yong (G-Dragon), after the previous ban ended on November 25, 2023.
However, the travel ban for actor Lee Sun-kyun, who is also under investigation for a drug case, received an extension. Under the Immigration Control Act, the Minister of Justice can issue a travel ban for a period of one month for criminal investigations. If there is a need to continue the ban after one month, then the period can be extended.
There is speculation among the police that the direction of future investigations will be different for G-Dragon and actor Lee Sun-kyun, given the different actions regarding the extension of their travel ban letters. Both public figures received negative results from the National Forensic Agency.
However, in the case involving actor Lee Sun-kyun, circumstantial evidence such as message exchanges with the club manager, Miss A (29), indicate that the police will continue the investigation. However, the possibility that the case involving G-Dragon will end in 'non-indictment' without further summons and not being transferred to prosecution is increasing.
The reason is, there is no particular circumstantial evidence, and the appropriate assessment by the National Forensic Agency regarding the alleged drug administration has been completed. G-Dragon and his legal representatives have also prepared complaints against parties who try to bring down his name during the investigation process into this drug case.
Currently, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency is investigating or internally examining 10 people, including G-Dragon, Lee Sun-kyun, and others on charges of drug use. A police official said, "We cannot yet reveal the exact date the travel ban was lifted, whether the ban has been lifted, or the future direction of the investigation.”
