ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo recently announced the opening of a private fan club and member recruitment starting in early December 2023. Although many fans expressed their enthusiasm for the opening of individual fan clubs, quite a few ASTRO fans were disappointed by this decision.
Quoting from Allkpop on Saturday December 2, 2023, on December 1, 2023, Fantagio released an official notification on the ASTRO fan club website regarding the announcement of the opening of members for the official individual fan club for Cha Eun Woo.
Registration will open from December 5-19, 2023, with fan club activities planned to be extended from the start date to December 19, 2023 the following year. The announcement of the opening of this fan club received mixed responses from ASTRO fans, because their group is currently on hiatus since they last released their third album in May 2022.
During the hiatus, ASTRO also experienced many changes, such as member Rocky leaving the group. As well as the death of the late member Moonbin. This also raises fans' concerns regarding the future of the ASTRO group.
The release of member Cha Eun Woo's individual fan clubs also made fans speculate that the group's hiatus will be longer with the members being more active in their solo activities. Some expressed their disappointment as follows.
“ Opening a private fan club? "Is this fair for AROHA (ASTRO fans) ," said one fan. " They clearly don't respect AROHA ," said another fan. " ASTRO hasn't even disbanded and Cha Eun Woo hasn't moved to another agency, so why are they recruiting new fans?" said another fan.
“ If they wanted to recruit individual Cha Eun Woo fans, why did they do it on the ASTRO fan club website? ” admitted another fan. Responding to the concerns of ASTRO fans, the Fantagio agency responded via the news media Xports News and said that they were reviewing the situation.
Meanwhile, ASTRO, which debuted in February 2016, is approaching its 8th anniversary. At the end of last year, Fantagio announced the re-signing of contracts with Cha Eun Woo, Jinjin, and Sanha. Reportedly, the contract extension for MJ, who completed his mandatory military service last month, is currently under discussion.
