Four EXO members have now left SM Entertainment management : Baekhyun, Chen, DO, and Xiumin. Meanwhile, the remaining four still have artist status under this agency, namely Suho, Kai, Sehun and Chanyeol. Lay has been out of management for a long time and since the release of Don't Fight The Feeling he has not been fully active with EXO.
On January 8, 2024 SM Entertainment made a statement that they would still handle EXO's activities as a group. They also confirmed that this year EXO will continue the group with an 8 member formation. It is suspected that Lay will completely no longer be a part of EXO starting this year.
"In the future, the eight EXO members will continue to carry out activities together as EXO," said SM Entertainment in their official release. "Apart from presenting new music and performances, they will also greet fans through the EXO fan meeting scheduled for April, as well as through various activities," continued management.
Confirmed by the agency, members who are no longer bound by individual exclusive contracts with them have agreed to continue the EXO project under SM Entertainment. DO, Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin, agreed to continue discussing EXO's activity contracts.
DO is currently joining Company SooSoo, the management he founded with his manager since his debut at EXO. Meanwhile Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin who are members of the EXO-CBX sub-unit are under the management of INB100 which was founded by Baekhyun.
"The exclusive contract of the member who decided to extend it is still valid, and DO, whose exclusive contract has ended, agreed to take part in EXO's activities and we will continue to discuss (EXO's) future activities (with DO).
Regarding Chen, Baekhyun, and "Xiumin, we agree to allow them to carry out individual activities under the exclusive contract mentioned above," said SM Entertainment again. On the other hand, INB100 management has a new vision for Baekhyun, Chen and Xiumin.
They plan to present quality music with different colors entering a new age and generation. This management promises that the three of them will take on new challenges and be creatively active in video and music production. EXO-CBX will also continue to communicate with fans through various works in the future.
"We plan to focus on the individual musical colors of the members, and in the future we will start giving roles to the members to jump in and face creative challenges and experiment in order to communicate with fans in various ways, including producing videos and music which has been their dream since long," said INB100.
On the other hand, Suho is currently focusing on his career as an actor and will be filming a new Korean drama. Chanyeol is currently on an Asia tour for his solo fancon. Meanwhile, Kai and Sehun are still serving their mandatory military duties. SM Entertainment hints that there will be a project for EXO in April. We can hope that apart from Kai and Sehun, all members will participate in this project.
