The film Despicable Me 4 has just released a trailer to continue the story of the lives of Gru and the minions . In its newest film, this animated franchise highlights Gru's life after marrying Lucy. Gru now lives with his small family consisting of his wife, three adopted children, a son from his marriage to Lucy, and his minions.
However, in the midst of Gru's happiness with his new family, Gru actually encounters a new threat that threatens his family's safety when a criminal named Maxime Le Mal is known to have escaped from prison. Not alone, Maxime Le Mal also invited his lover, Valentina, to take revenge on Gru.
Meanwhile, Gru, with his new crime mission, also includes his child. However, in the middle of the mission, Gru begins to realize the dangerous impact on his child from the world of crime in which he has been involved. On the other hand, Despicable Me 4 is planned to be ready for broadcast in mid-2024.
Reporting from Variety, this film is scheduled for release on July 3 2024. This latest saga film comes after it was last released in 2017. Just like before, the voices for the Despicable Me 4 characters will still be provided by Kristen Wiig, Steve Coogan, Miranda Cosgrove, Chris Renaud, Pierre Coffin, and Dana Gaier.
However, there will also be a number of new voice actors, starting from Will Ferrell as Maxime Le Mal, Sofia Vergara as Valentina, then Joey King, Chloe Fineman, Madison Polan, and Stephen Colbert. This animated franchise became the most successful after releasing its first film, Despicable Me, in 2010.
With a total of 7 films, this franchise has earned box office profits of US$4.6 billion with the film Minions (2015) recorded as the highest-grossing film with a total of US$1.1 billion. This achievement also makes the Despicable Me franchise the 15th best-selling franchise of all time with the 14th position filled by the Avatar universe.
