Kim Hee-won, known for his roles in various drama projects, is making a breakthrough as a director with the Disney+ series "Light Shop." In an interview with IMBC, he shared about his experiences and challenges in this project.

As his first directorial work, Kim Hee-won admitted that Kang Full's script was not easy to translate to the screen. Kim Hee-won described the script of "Light Shop" as "confusing." "People who read the script said the same thing.

I thought, how am I going to do something this difficult?" he said. He worried that if this complex material was not delivered well, the audience might not enjoy it. However, after thinking it over, Kim decided to take on the challenge. "This kind of story is rare, and I felt like I needed to try it.

Even after agreeing to the project, I thought about backing out for two to three months. But I went ahead because I wanted to do something I had never tried before," he explained. "Light Shop" gained widespread attention for its supernatural and emotional premise.

Through its gripping story, the series managed to capture viewers' attention, especially in the finale that raised questions about Ji-young's fate and the possibility of a second season. For Kim Hee-won, the project was not only a technical challenge, but also an opportunity to present a story that has never been seen before.

"I wanted to direct a different story, something that is not commonly found in dramas or films these days," he said. While Disney+ has yet to officially announce a sequel to "Light Shop," there is much speculation that the series could potentially have a second season.

Given that the story is based on Kang Full's vast universe, like " Moving ," it's likely that the narrative will continue to evolve. For Kim Hee-won, this experience not only honed his skills as a director but also strengthened his position as one of the talented creators in the Korean drama industry .

He showed the courage to step out of his comfort zone and proved that even a complex story can be presented in an interesting way if done with heart. With its mature production and strong emotional storytelling, "Light Shop" is a promising first step for Kim Hee-won in the world of directing.
