Lee Jong Won shared his thoughts on his on-screen chemistry with Kim Se Jeong, expressing how satisfied he was with their dynamic. The actor starred in ENA’s Monday-Tuesday drama Brewing Love, which concluded on the 10th after 12 episodes.

In the series, Lee played Yoon Min Joo, a kind and warm-hearted brewmaster who masks his hyper-sensitive nature with a cool demeanor. Lee revealed that he felt the audience’s enthusiastic reactions to the kiss scene in the drama. “I was happy to hear comments like, ‘He’s subtly sneaky.’

Min Joo is meticulous and can sometimes come across as cynical, but when he falls for someone, he goes for it. I wanted to show that contrast. I aimed to portray a subtle, not overly cocky sneakiness, and after receiving praise, I felt relieved,” he said.

He continued, “The kiss scenes are like the highlight of romantic comedies. I was embarrassed and nervous, but the on-set reaction was great, and many people said they rewatched that scene. That made me happy. I think I can do even better next time,” he laughed.

Brewing Love marked the first time Lee Jong Won had a proper kiss scene as a lead in a romantic comedy. “I had one in ‘Farming Academy,’ but this was the first time it matched the genre and my role as the lead. It was fine when I read the script, but once filming started, it definitely wasn’t easy.

I was shy and froze up, but Se Jeong, who’s amazing at rom-coms, helped me a lot. She explained angles and small details to make the scene look better on screen,” he shared. The actor added, “The first time was hard, but after that, I just went with it.

By the second kiss scene, we were both more comfortable and pulled it off smoothly. ”When asked about Kim Se Jeong’s advice, Lee said, “The biggest thing she told me was, ‘Just relax.’ She shared how stiff and difficult it was for her at first and wanted to make things easier for me since she’d been through the same experience.”
