2NE1 member Sandara Park aka Dara recently sparked controversy after she admitted to dating a minor before her debut. The K-Pop idol revealed that she was 19 years old at the time, while her partner was 14 years old. This statement was conveyed by Sandara Park in a video showing her chatting with her bandmate, Minzy.
At that moment, Sandara shared the story of her romantic relationship before her debut with 2NE1 in 2009. In the video, Sandara Park said that a 14-year-old boy had once asked her to get to know him and asked for her phone number. Sandara, who was 19 at the time, was attracted to the boy, so she finally admitted that she was 16 years old to get to know him. "I was 19 years old when I debuted, but I lied.

She then dated the teenager, sharing her dating experiences where she and her boyfriend went to the movies, played at game centers, and even played basketball. Sandara Park then stopped contacting her ex-boyfriend after she debuted and her real age was revealed to the public.

The clip from the video then went viral on social media and drew criticism. Sandara Park was accused of grooming a minor, considering her actions of dating a minor as inappropriate.
As a result of Sandara Park's viral statement, the idol's agency then decided to edit the video uploaded to the DARA TV YouTube channel, deleting the part where Sandara Park talked about her love story. After deleting the section, the agency then also included a warning and threat of legal action against those who were said to be spreading speculation about Sandara Park.
