Snow White successfully debuted at the top of the box office in its first week of release, although its revenue was still far below expectations. The film made a profit of US$43 million from the North American box office. As reported by Variety, on Sunday March 23, 2025, the achievement successfully placed Snow White at the top of the domestic box office.
The film starring Rachel Zegler surpassed the achievements of other films, such as Black Bag, Captain America: Brave New World, Novocaine, and Mickey 17, 2025. Snow White also managed to rake in US$44.3 million in international markets, reaching a temporary box office total of US$87.3 million.
However, the figure is still below the initial estimates of Snow White's box office debut. The live-action film was initially predicted to collect US$100 million, namely US$45 million-US$55 million in the domestic market and US$50 million at the international box office. However, Snow White has become Disney's lowest debut live-action film, even lower than Dumbo (2019) with US$45 million.
Other famous remake films, such as The Jungle Book (2016), Beauty and the Beast (2017), The Lion King (2019), Aladdin (2019), and The Little Mermaid (2023) even managed to debut with box office earnings of over US$100 million. However, Snow White still has the potential to follow in the footsteps of Mufasa: The Lion King (2024) which debuted with US$35 million, but managed to close with US$717.5 million.
On the other hand, Black Bag ranked second with US$4.4 million. The film was followed by Captain America: Brave New World which filled the third position with US$4.3 million, then Novocaine with US$3.8 million. Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-ho's latest film, Mickey 17, rounded out the top five with $3.7 million. Snow White was produced by Marc Webb with a screenplay by Erin Cressida Wilson.
Marc Webb has produced many films, such as (500) Days of Summer (2009). The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), and Gifted (2017). Before it aired, Snow White was dragged into various controversies. Starting from the casting of Rachel Zegler as Snow White, changes in the storyline, to Gal Gadot expressing support for Israel.
