News of Yu's death first became widespread this morning after a paparazzi posted on Weibo that the actor had died from a fall. The post, which has since been deleted, detailed that Yu had attended a gathering with five or six friends on the evening of September 10, 2025.
Around 2 a.m., he went into a room to sleep and locked the door. "When his friends wanted to go home at 6 am, they didn't find him and then his body was found on the ground floor," wrote the paparazzi, as reported by AsiaOne.
"A resident walking his dog reported the incident to the police, who are still investigating but have ruled out criminal activity." Hours later, the paparazzi posted another post, also later deleted, claiming to have visited the scene.
He wrote that a window of one of the fifth-floor apartments appeared broken, and a building staff member confirmed that the victim was actor Yu Menglong. He also stated that the incident occurred around 5 a.m.
Local media outlet Chengdu.cn reported that the residential building management had confirmed the fall from a height incident, although they could not confirm the victim's identity. Yu's management's official statement later that evening confirmed the sad news.
Yu Menglong first entered the entertainment industry through the talent show My Show! My Style! in 2007. He made his acting debut in the short film The Little Prince (2011), before rising to fame with his role as the ninth prince in the costume series Go Princess Go (2015).
