SEVENTEEN's Hoshi will be leaving for his mandatory military service today, Tuesday (September 16, 2025). Hoshi's departure to the military barracks comes a day after his duet partner, Woozi.
Kwon Soon Young, whose real name is Kwon Soon Young, didn't want to leave without something for CARAT.

He released a song called "Take A Shot," which will be released on the day of his enlistment. Pledis Entertainment's management, in an official statement, as reported by the Korea JoongAng Daily, explained that the song will be released at 6 p.m. KST (4 p.m. WIB).

"Take A Shot" is a raged hip hop track that will showcase Hoshi's rapping skills. "The highlight of this song is Hoshi's rap with a rich synth sound, combined with a guitar sound that gives a heavy feel but is full of fast energy," said the management.

Hoshi participated in the production of "Take A Shot," writing the lyrics. The song's story is about passion and determination to achieve one's goals. Pledis explained that the 29-year-old had personal hopes and goals for his 10th anniversary with SEVENTEEN.

Rather than simply writing about these on social media, Hoshi chose to express them through song lyrics. For the next five weeks, he will undergo basic training at an undisclosed location. Like Woozi, Hoshi will also undergo mandatory military service as an active duty soldier.

Hoshi's last events as an artist were the Hoshi x Woozi sub-unit fan concert and the fansigning event for SEVENTEEN's 5th studio album release some time ago. However, he will continue to appear in pre-recorded content for the foreseeable future. Hoshi has begun taking a break from SEVENTEEN's activities to prepare for his mandatory military service.

He did not participate in SEVENTEEN's latest world tour, NEW_, which took place at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium last Saturday and Sunday (September 13-14, 2025). The concert caused a stir due to a malfunctioning firework that exploded in the audience, injuring two people and sending them to the venue's clinic.

"Two spectators were confirmed injured in this incident and were immediately rushed to the venue's clinic before being sent home. To ensure their speedy recovery, we will actively cover their treatment," Pledis said in an official statement, as reported by Sports DongA.
