Woozi, a member and main composer of the K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN, has begun basic training for his mandatory military service. Pledis Entertainment released an official statement on Monday September 15, 2025.
The agency under HYBE Labels already informed fans in July 2025 that Woozi would be enlisting on September 15, 2025. Hoshi would follow the following day. Because the enlistment date had already been announced, Woozi did not participate in SEVENTEEN NEW_'s world tour concert held in Incheon last weekend.
In an official statement from his management, as reported by the Korea JoongAng Daily, Woozi will complete five weeks of basic military training at an undisclosed location. Afterward, the 28-year-old will continue his military service as an active-duty soldier.
Woozi's last events as an artist were the Hoshi x Woozi sub-unit fan concert and the fansigning event for SEVENTEEN's 5th studio album release some time ago. However, he will continue to appear in pre-recorded content for the foreseeable future. Woozi was seen watching SEVENTEEN at the NEW_ concert last weekend.
After the concert, he updated fans on the Weverse platform. "This is the first time I've witnessed, from below the stage, the moment the members and CARATs smile when they hear the music I created. It makes me feel quite happy," said Woozi.
"I entered the military full of energy thanks to you. I will fulfill my duties and return healthy," he continued. Woozi is the next SEVENTEEN member to enlist, following Jeonghan and Wonwoo. Hoshi will also begin his mandatory military service tomorrow as an active duty soldier.
SEVENTEEN continues touring with its remaining members. Their concert at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium on Saturday (September 13, 2025) caused a commotion due to a fireworks malfunction that injured a fan. Fireworks exploded into the audience, injuring two people and sending them to a clinic at the concert venue.
"Two spectators were confirmed injured in this incident and were immediately rushed to the venue's clinic before being sent home. To ensure their speedy recovery, we will actively cover their treatment," Pledis said in an official statement, as reported by Sports DongA.
