Film actor Tom Holland, had to take a break from the big screen after experiencing a mild concussion while filming Spider-Man : Brand New Day on Friday September 19, 2025. Filming was halted at Leavesden Studios in Watford, Herts.
For the actor's safety, production was temporarily suspended until he fully recovered. As reported by Variety, film producers Sony and Marvel Studios will discuss this matter to formulate future plans on Monday September 22, 2025.
The decision was made as a precautionary measure to allow Holland to fully rest before returning to the set in the coming days. No other crew members were injured in the incident, but the actor's health is of course his top priority.
Quoting The Sun, a spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service revealed that at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, they treated an injured patient and an ambulance was immediately dispatched to Leavesden Studios in Watford.
The source added that the patient was subsequently taken to hospital for further treatment. This delay is certainly a concern and highlight, considering that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is one of the most anticipated superhero film projects.
On the other hand, this film has also been scheduled to be released on July 24, 2026. The summer release schedule was set by Sony last October, while the official title was only announced in March at the CinemaCon event.
According to Deadline, the film is being directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton, with Amy Pascal and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige serving as producers.
Zendaya returns as MJ, while Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas join the cast in undisclosed roles. Despite the relatively long airtime, news of Holland's injury has raised concerns among fans.
However, with reports of his recovery, the public is hopeful that he will soon recover and return to the Spider-Man costume. As one of Sony and Marvel Studios' flagship franchises, every development related to Spider-Man: Brand New Day is always a matter of widespread interest.
With the support of the production team and a release date still more than a year away, this incident is expected to not dampen public enthusiasm for Tom Holland's return.
