Actor Kwak Do Won issued an apology regarding a driving under the influence (DUI) incident that occurred in 2022. In his statement, Kwak Do Won admitted that it took him a long time to write an apology because he was afraid and ashamed to face the mistakes he had made.
" It took me a long time to write this. I was scared, deeply ashamed, and in the face of my mistakes, no words came easily," Kwak Do Won said in a statement released Friday December 19, 2025. "In 2022, I made a huge mistake: drunk driving.
I sincerely apologize to everyone who was hurt and disappointed as a result, " he continued. The 52-year-old actor admitted that after the DUI incident, he spent time reflecting. He also regretted not apologizing sooner. "From then on, I reflected on myself and spent countless hours wondering if I was worthy of standing before the public.
In the silence that followed, I thought deeply about the attitude I should have as a person before becoming an actor," he said. "I am truly sorry for not apologizing sooner and missing the right time to express my opinion," he continued.
In the future, Kwak Do Won tries to prove that he has changed into a better person. "I will not seek forgiveness quickly. I will prove it not with words, but with the way I live. Once again, I sincerely apologize to everyone I have disappointed," he concluded.
In 2022, Kwak Do Won was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. A blood alcohol concentration test revealed that his blood alcohol concentration was well above the level that would result in license revocation (0.08%).
When the incident occurred, Kwak Do Won was supposed to star in the TVING drama, Villains, which had finished filming before his drunk driving incident. However, due to the incident, the drama's broadcast was postponed until TVING recently announced its premiere date on December 18, 2025.
